Pasadena Chalk Festival 2017

Pasadena Chalk Festival 2017

Pasadena Chalk Festival 2017On Father’s Day weekend, Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18, 2017 the 25th annual Pasadena Chalk Art Festival was held at Paseo Colorado.

It was a particularly hot weekend in Pasadena although not as hot as last year according to some(but you didn’t hear that from me).  As promised I am including some photos shared by the creative I Maddonari(chalk artists) in attendance.

Pasadena Chalk Festival 2017While still impressive, I don’t know but it may have been a combination of heat, uncomfortable shoes and/or a cranky mood(yeah, I admit it) but I wasn’t exactly feelin’ the chalk spirit this year.   More than in past years, the crowds made taking photos more of a challenge for me. Still it is an amazing event that everyone should experience at least once.

25th AnnualPasadena Chalk Festival 2017In addition to the creative artwork, there was musical entertainment along with a silent auction and art gallery plus some fun childrens’ activities.  The 16th Annual Pasadena Police Classic Car Show was held on Green Street between Marengo and Los Robles avenues on Sunday afternoon.

25th Annual Pasadena Chalk FestivalPaseo Colorado is located at 300 West Colorado Boulevard. More information regarding the festival can be found by clicking here.

There’s always something going on in Pasadena -- come visit and enjoy the city and should you decide you would like to live in one of the city’s many vibrant neighborhoods contact me at 818.516.4393.

Michael,

Thank you for sharing the Pasadena Chalk Art Festival.  I was drawn to the whimsy of your last chalk picture.  And I understand crankiness and heat!  A

Michael-I love the talent but definitely wouldn't like the heat or the crowds so if I went you would have to be my tour guide.

Hi Michael- thank you for braving the heat and fellow gawkers to take some photos. You know, Larry said something similar when we went to a chalk art festival here back in the spring.

I liked the last one. It reminds me of some weird show we're watching on TV. What is with the getup in that first photo, the woman in shorts and what are those things? Knee pads? Are knee pads a thing in LA now?

Thanks for the shots of the great art, Michael.  It seems to be a shame that these are only temporary.

Oh my gosh - how cool is that, Michael?!  I especially love the one, "Don't Shop, Adopt."  I would love to have a copy of that photo - I just love that sentiment and I know Endre Barath, Jr. and many others feel the same way!

Looks like a fun event - even in the heat. Great shots too, Michael!

Chalk Fest is amazing! I really enjoyed seeing all the variations of what artists can do! Their talent is greatly appreciated. I often wonder do they start off coloring on the floors indoors, then take to the sidewalks with chalk when they are young and never go back indoors to color or draw, except when it rains or there is inclement weather? Theirs is a niche driven by passion!

Chalk art is so interesting; the thing that bothers me is it doesn't last! One rain and poof. It's gone. Festivals are fun to attend and get photos, but if the weather doesn't cooperate, it can be pretty miserable. Thanks for sharing your pics from the Pasadena Chalk Festival.
