Summer Lawn Care Tips for the Tulsa Home

Hello to all of you Tulsa home owners out there working hard in the yard! Yard work is tedious and very time consuming. Some people enjoy it and find it therapeutic while others dread it. Regardless of how much you do or don’t like yard work, having a yard means mandatory lawn care. Once you get in the swing of things, it really isn’t hard to maintain your yard. You just need to know what to do. Therefore, here are some summer lawn care tips to help you out!

  1. Adjust your mower height. Did you know that this was possible? Since you cut the grass more often in the summer, it is okay to leave the grass a little longer. Longer blades help the soil by providing some extra shade against the hot summer sun. In the long run, it is better for your yard.
  2. Don’t just count on the rain. Thank you summer showers for helping the grass grow even faster! However, it is important that you keep your grass watered properly so that it can stay healthy.
  3. Clean up after the pups. This is no fun! But, it is necessary to keep the lawn nice and full. Dogs can unfortunately cause dead areas around the lawn, so be on dooty duty!
  4. Leave the grass clippings alone. If you do not have a lawnmower with a bag to catch the clippings while cutting, that is perfectly okay. It is healthy for your grass to just leave them lying around. Think of it as a form of grass recycling.
  5. Get those grubs. Grubs can really mess with your lawn. Therefore, simply put on grub control for the season.
  6. Stay on top of the weeds. Oh, joy! This must fall right down there will scooping poop. Who likes dealing with weeds? The best way to not have to “deal” with them is by staying on top of them from the start. Don’t let them get out of hand or you will regret it.
