Is Having Different Flooring in Every Room of the House 'Bad' Feng Shui?

By

From a Feng Shui perspective, the flooring represents one of the main foundations of your home. Choosing a floor design that is continuous through out your home is a common suggestion as this represents strong supportive energy [chi’]. When each room has different flooring, the energetic foundation could become weakened.

The exception to this is if you choose to vary the floor design within the kitchen and bathroom. This is usually due to the function of the space. Let that be flooring which can stand possible spills in the kitchen and steam from the bathroom.

Great information.  Those homes with different floors in each room make me nervous.

Thanks for the info, Laura.  Remember the days when every room had a different color shag carpeting.  Oh My.  Glad that is behind us.

Thanks for sharing this - I assumed this was the case but interesting to read about from your perspective and why.

The other issue is lots of different flooring just looks odd, too, especially when it doesn't go together.

Enjoy your weekend!

Laura- I have to agree with you. All of the different flooring can make the home seemed chopped up.

Good evening Laura Cerrano ,

It's nice to have documentation that is better to have a floor design that is continuous through out your home. Visually I always like it better when there is flooring continuity throughout a home!
