Shark Pit Social Maui | West Maui Restaurant in Lahaina

*To our knowledge the Shark Pit restaurant on Maui is not currently open.

We have been going to Shark Pit since they were serving food out of a trailer. At that time they were ranked as one of the top food trucks in the nation! A couple years ago after all of their success they opened a brick and mortar restaurant in Lahaina right off of Front St. They serve local farm to fork food with a twist. Everything we have had is ono(delicious)! Although they are open until 10 PM they usually only have enough food for the evening so if they are busy they may start to run out of items later in the evening. We usually set a reservation for just after sunset. After we finish watching the sunset we head over for dinner which is usually between 7 and 7:30 so we can make sure to get there early in case they are busy and they start to run out of food options.

Food: Everything we have tried is ono! When we first starting going to the food truck they had a smaller selection. Before we always got the Funked Up Fish Tacos. Now they are just the Fish Tacos. All of the tacos we have had have been great. You can't go wrong with the fish tacos, pork belly tacos, or the island steak tacos. The burgers are also amazing. The fried rice with Spam is very good. We have not yet tried the Furikaka dusted corn on the cob or the Fried Brussel Sprouts. We have heard that both are excellent. They also serve steak, seafood, burgers, and sandwiches.

Beverages: They have soda and water. They don't serve alchohol, but Hawaii allows you to BYOB(Bring Your Own Beer) wine, or favorite alcholic beverage to most retuarants that do not have a liqour license. It's fairly common in Hawaii to stop by the store on your way to a restauarant that allows you to BYOB. Not all resturants without a license allow BYOB so please check before bringing your favorite beverage into a restuarant. The Foodland in the same center has a decent selection of beer and wine. You can also stop by Maui Brewing in Kahana or Kohola Brewing in Lahaina for local beer.

Dining: It's a low key and friendly atmoshpere. The roots are from a former food truck and although the food is excellent it is not going to be a high end dining experience. It's a good mix of locals and tourist who want something different from the restuarants on Front St. Shark Pit has great food with a genuine local vibe. Don't be surprised if the owner/chef Chris stops by and checks in on you.

Location: Located in the Old Lahaina Center next to Jamba Juice. It is in the same center as Foodland and the Maui Theater. It is across from the Maui Outlets and right next to Front St.

170 Papalaua St, Lahaina, HI 96761

Parking: Most of the parking is for other businesses. There is limited parking in front of the restaurant. There is paid parking in front of Foodland which is managed by ProPark. It's not expensive and very convenient. There is additional parking across Papalaua St at the Maui Outlets. To avoid getting a ticket consider one of the paid parking options if nothing is available directly in front of Shark Pit.

Lunch: 11AM–2:30PM

Dinner: 6PM–10PM

Jesse that is a great testament to the quality of the food at the Shark Pit if they run out of food.  I bet every restaurant would love to have that problem.

Good point George.

The food there is very good! If you happen to be on Maui I suggest giving it a try!
