We know what we'll get from the left...But is there really any right running?

We've been eloquently spoken to from the left and in particular Barack Obama on his policy ideas. He makes it no secret of his policy solutions to include much higher taxation on just about all things you can tax. He also states that he'll close Guantanomo Bay, let the President's tax cuts expire, raise minimum wage, expand just about all government programs and beauracracies and of course implement a cap-n-trade policy to "curb" global warming.

Interesting but my greater concern is that  the current individual running for President of the United States as a Rebublican isn't but slightly different than the liberals agenda. My concerns keep growing deeper each and every day Senator McCain speaks.  Once again, I'll plug a handful of people who I think might be a great selection for Vice President and would rally the Conservative base to help McCain get elected. Short of these choices and certainly the current names being bandied about on blogs and as rumors; I will likely not vote for Senator McCain.  My disbelief on how the GOP has gotten to this point becomes greater with each spoken word and policy from the Senator.  I understand that many are going to continue to say that not voting for Senator McCain is a vote "for" Obama but with all do respect; I believe that philosophy has helped get us to where we are today.  I believe there's hardly a dimes worth of difference between Senator McCain's ideas and the other's. He doesn't even attempt to provide us with even a "bone" to chew on and I'm having a really difficult time garnering any support for him.

The VP options I would support are Newt Gingrich, George Allen, Bobby Jindal, JC Watts, Rick Santorum and maybe 1 or 2 other's but that's about it and I'm not holding my breath for any of them to be selected. The video below shows some of my great concerns and question exactly where Senator McCain's interests lie for running this great country.

Owen, you wonder how the GOP has gotten to where it is now?  OMG look all around you.  Bush has taken this country into a downward spiral.  One can't continue to support a party that has driven this country into unimaginable debt, lied to us about a war, given the congress and the senate the finger when they subpoena his cronies to testify before them, made one bad policy decision after another, ignored the plight of the people after hurricane Katrina, and on and on.  The GOP, starting with Newt Gingrich and his "contract on america" started this entire fiasco.  You can only lie, cheat and steal so long before people wake up and see what has been done to them.  The GOP deserves to be the biggest losers come November.

Hugh:  Nobody's sillyness is going to emotionalize me more than McCain currently is doing.  I've not had the tit-for-tat that I know many of you have had with Terry and some of her colleagues.  Terry also has not stated anything on any of my blog posts which are of unimaginable disrespect.  If she was to, I would reply to her.

We aren't going to change Terry or her thoughts and she has the right to speak them. As I said, so long as she's careful enough not to become to vile on my personal posts.

Obviously, I disagree with her on idealogy and on even her commments here today. I don't believe President Bush was lied to with the intelligence and I don't believe that President Bush lied to us the American people.

It's usually Terry and the liberals vile "hatred" which truely perplexes me that get's me quite worked up.  I do think they go overboard on their hatred to President Bush.  I also agree that President Bush's policies have created alot of the issues we are having within our Republican caucus.

He made oh so many mistakes strategically in the war on terror, the war in Iraq, ridiculous amounts of increased spending and bigger govt., medicare prescription drugs, No Child Left Behind and others.

Again, I generally rally behind him when the vile part of the hatred is spewed and that's simply because I don't think that is anyway to speak about any president much less a current active one.

As for the other point. Terry and her ilk won't cause me to shiver and vote for McCain while holding my nose.  We are in a tailspin, she is a admited liberal and does support Obama as I do NOT. But the time has come to take a stand and do something.

I would much rather stand up and fight against Obama policy and legislating than to spend a nearly equal amount of my time working to change McCain who not only can't be molded but also won't listen.  We may end up worse off in this country with Obama but it's America and we're never out and finished.

We can resurect Reagan and conservatism. We just have to implement it in our own lives, invlove ourselves in it politically, show the public that there is a conservative driven solution for each and every policy, have a speaker who can lead and discuss it and export it.  That is what we'll bring the conservative movement back.

Owen,

I agree with you.  I'd much rather fight Obama than McCain.  The only chance we conservatives have of getting the attention of the RNC is by refusing to hold our nose and support them regardless of how much we disagree with them.

There seems to be a very real conservative uprising in progress.  I hope that people don't cave in at the last minute out of fear of what Obama might do.

I think that we can fight the good fight against an Obama presidency but if McCain wins we will simply get more of the same mediocrity we've gotten with the Bush administration.  The Republican party is looking more and more like the Democratic party of years past.  As the Dems move further left, so does the GOP.

It is up to us to take a stand NOW and refuse to slide with them!  If we don't, I fear that LIBERTY will perish within the next generation.

I couldn't agree more, Tim

I hope you're right about the conservative uprising. I know I won't cave. I'm done with Senator McCain and not even hoping much anymore. If he throws us a curveball; then I'll reconsider. I'm not holding my breath.

I'm moving forward and I think it's very important that we begin to nuture our roots back to home base.  I'm going to be spending alot of time do what I can do and I'm hoping to work toward solutions.

I'm going to continue to push for Newt Gingrich. His website www.americansolutions.com is a wonderful starting point and I think everybody from all idealogies ought to take a peek and involve themselves with input.

It's time to take a stand and if we do it the way you and I are requesting; it's going to take a much greater involvement from the grassroots folks to get involved with politics. We need a ground swell of involvement like we had with the immigration reform debate and Dubai Ports saga.

Too many think they can just vote on election day and then take a few years off until the next round.  We'll need to be heavily engaged to oppose Obama assuming he wins and thats going to take a hard fought effort from folks like us.

I'm ready and I hope my other Conservative colleagues and hopefull colleagues to be are ready to....... It's time to get to work!

Owen, I'd really like to set the record straight here about liberals hatred for america.  I know all you guys like to believe that, I know Rush and Bill O'Reilly tell you that, but really, take a look around.  The vile words almost always start being spewed by a conservative republican here.  Us liberals take umbrage to the name calling and misrepresentation of our point of view, and we get angry.  The same kind of angry we have because of what has been done to this country in a mere 7 years of complete incompetance and mis-management.  What do you think we should be like, when we're constantly attacked from the right side, for only wanting what we think is best.  I think you really need to go back and read some of the really nasty comments that were posted by others of your "ilk" here Owen.  As for Obama, I'm glad you set the record straight on that one, NOT!  I've not once, here or in any post stated who I prefer for the Democratic candidate.  But it doesn't surprise me, because the right just loves to make up stories about the left.

Hey Terry:  First of all the only part of what I stated that might have been a "made up story: is saying that you Do support Obama and should have said probably will support Obama. Everything else I state is what I feel. Regardless of what Rush & O'Reilly state.

I know you've read comments on many other sites and if you haven't ever checked out some of the liberal hate sites... let me know in an off comment email and I'll supply some to you. But I think you know quite well that both sides tend to go overboard many times.. but I've seen much more vile comments from the far left sites than the far right sites.

Sorry if you feel that the last 7 years are so terrbile. Again we disagree some.

I'm not on here to be vile and you'll never find me in that kind of debate with you or anyone else for that matter. And I don't think you've taken anything I said as inappropriate or "fighting words".

I'm pretty much as civil as they get and will just ignore those comments by anyone which I find total sillyness. I've read many of the past comments from my colleagues and your's. Again, while I'm not condoning anyone's actions; I'm far from the moral authority.... My intent is to ignite good, clean and serious discussion on specific issues.  The rest I'll leave for other's.

As for my posts.... I'm more than happy to receive criticizm, and have a constructive dialog and debate but I won't tolerate or be a part of anything vile. Politics is obviously a dirty business but I stay within reason.  You won't hear me disrespect Senators McCain, Clinton, Obama or any others.

Also not sure why you classify me with my "ilk" when lately I've been in mostly disagreement over at least the campaign issues.

Owen, even "probably" is not your place to comment, for as I said, I've never even hinted at whom I may support in the coming election, except to adamantly state it would not be McSame.  I'm trying to be civil here too but it really gets me when people of my "ilk" are lumped together in a very negative category.  As I also said, maybe some may seem hateful because of the hateful comments made about them.  I wont mention any names here but there are two "christians" that spew some pretty vile things about liberals in in many cases me in particular.

Oh yeah, and as for the liberals hating America comment.. I think there are certainly a number of folks on the left that actually and truly do have such a hate for our style of government that it's leading them to hate America. Definately not all liberals. I think there are also a large proportion of liberals who have deep within them such hatred for President Bush that it carries over to some speach, ideas and policy decisions which in turn hurt America.

And my post didn't state anything about liberals hating America either.  My post was intended to instigate my deep concnerns and other's with regard to Senator McCain.

Owen, give the "liberals hating america" a rest will you please?  I've tried to explain, but your talking points and those of the others here, are straight from the Rush Limbaugh play book.  They're old, and tired, and untrue.

Whoa John, Keith Olbermann was just presenting what bush said.  You really think he made up those quotes himself?  I'd rather listen to Keith Olbermann than Bill O'Reilly or Rush Limbaugh.  Now thats vile hateful rhetoric.  I have no idea what Olbermann's political leanings are.  As long as he speaks truth to power, I'll continue to listen.

Presenting what Bush said? I could have sworn I heard him tell Bush to SHUT THE H UP near the end of the video. No, not hateful at all. I don't even think all the people on here that you think HATE you have ever said that to you.
