The Power of ActiveRain and Rain Making Referrals

Real Estate Broker/Owner with KD Realty - 408.972.1822 CA BRE#01366594

I have recently not been actively posting to my ActiveRain blog.  I have been busy with other things, including going back to school to obtain another license in the State of California.  I will post about this new license once I finish school, sit for the state exam, and obtain my license.

Rainmaking Agent Referrals

I have been active behind the scenes making referrals to members of the AR community.

I have a client in San Jose that reached out to me for help with investments. After a long consultation to understand his goals, I referred him to a local attorney and CPA to manage the non-real estate related questions that arose.

My clients know they can depend on me to obtain resources for anything. If I don't have a specific resource, I will reach out to my trusted professionals to obtain one for them. This may be among the many reasons my clients become raving fans

There is no way I could have quickly, confidently, and comfortably made the referrals I made this week if it were not for ActiveRain and the connections I've made here.

Thanks and Gratitude to the ActiveRain Community

As my client and I discussed the areas he wanted to invest, each time a city and state was mentioned, I immediately knew the name of the agent in that area who would be my number 1 choice for a referral.  I did not even have to think about it!

My client already trusts, respects and appreciates me.  The ability to provide this level of referral service for my client has taken that level of trust, respect and appreciation to an entirely new level.

I've made three referral connections this week.  My client has connected with the agents and he will be moving forward with them.  While initially he was going to buy sight unseen, it appears now he may be flying out to these areas to get a feel for the areas and the homes there.  And, of course, to meet these amazing agents in person and expedience first-hand why I chose them!

I will be making two additional referrals next week.  My clients goal is to purchase 5 income properties this year in different areas across the US.

The agents who received the referrals know who they are.  We agreed that we would not post specifics about the referral other than to say it was a referral from ActiveRain.

I've made and received referrals in the Rain.  Prior to this week, I've never had the need to make 5 referrals all at once.  I am so grateful for the community and for the top notch agents I've grown to know and learn from over the past many years.  I would not have been able to help my client the way I did without the community and without the agents.

If you need help with listing a San Jose home for sale - I am here to help. If you are moving out of the area, I am happy to refer you to a top agent in the area you are moving to.

Congratulations and best of luck on your new endeavor.  Referrals and networking on Active Rain is great, unfortunately, when life gets in the way and we are busy working, it is not always easy to post and network.

This really is an amazing place for referral networks. The same happens to me when I hear of a specific location - I think, "AHA! I know who to call!"

I relate to Michael Jacobs's comment and your reply to him. Because of this community, I know far more about the real estate markets around the country than I do about what's happening right here in my home town. (None of the local agents participate in the Rain, nor do they use a real estate copywriter - their loss!)

Since I'm a writer instead of an agent, I don't get too many opportunities to send referrals - but when I do, I'm glad to know who to call.

Kathleen I have received and given to many Active Rain members referrals and many I did not even want anything in return simply just letting them know it came from me.... yes like minded people get it... and no names to be mentioned... I have also eliminated some because of AR:)Endre

Kathleen Daniels Isn't it amazing?  We've come to know each other - I'm talking about the AR community - through blogs, meet ups and just talking on the phone.  You get a feel for someone and know they will take excellent care of your clients.  And, you make friends along the way.

Good luck with your new degree.  I'm glad to know you!

I hand out plenty of referrals to Active Rain members, but I choose only those I personally know. They are not always a top agent, either. Being a top agent is nice (as I would know since I'm so incredibly focused on real estate), but not everybody holds that obsessed viewpoint. The trouble starts when there are 2 great agents in an area to choose from. Who to pick? Well, I have a pretty good idea. LOL. When it comes time for a San Jose referral, I know just who to pick, Kathleen.

Also, I should say sometimes referrals come down the line and indirectly. I just received a listing referral from Melanie Ross, and she referred another agent in her office to me. Just listed that home in Elk Grove yesterday. Thanks, Melanie.

Hi Kathleen,

WOW! What a great post! If someone asked me why I am part of the Rain, I would simply say networking, learning, and helping others.  Though I have only met a few Rainers face to face, I feel I could very easily refer business to agents all around the country.

This has been a very good year for AR referrals and I haven't even been that active in the community. This is the only place I would look for a referral agent. As far as I'm concerned, the best agents in the country can be found right here in the Rain

Hi Kathleen Daniels, ActiveRain by far is the best platform I've ever experienced to network, learn, share, meet great, like-minded people. I hope many who are on the fence about becoming a Rainmaker will read this post.
I gave out a listing referral in a small town, when they asked me, I immediately knew the name, they were even shocked.
Congratulations on pursuing another license. I am blessed to call you my friend.

KD~such a great feeling all'round! Giving them is something I really enjoy doing and do it all of the time with my Resource List (just gave a referral to one of my faithful local contractors for the agent who is operating as the buyer's agent for a Florida woman buying one of my listings). There's nothing like "paying-it-forward".

And good for you for not only posting this, but getting a *FEATURE* and getting another license!
