National Parks - Lifetime Senior Pass Increase August 27, 2017

On August 27, 2017 , the National Parks Lifetime Senior Pass cost will increase from $10 to $80.  Yes, you read that right, the lifetime pass for seniors is increasing to $80.  BUT you still have time to get the $10 pass, as long as your application has a postmark prior to August 27.

This is the first increase since 1994.  After August 27, the 62+ seniors can either buy the $80 lifetime pass or a $20 yearly pass.  And you can save the $20 passes for 4 consecutive years to turn in for a lifetime pass.

There are 417 National Park Sites and only 118 of them have an entrance fee.  And even those 118 have free entrance days certain times of the year.  The nice thing about the senior lifetime pass is that you can include three adults on that pass in your noncommercial vehicle.  Plus there are discounts offered on amenity fees such as camping, swimming, boat-launching and guided tours.

Thank you for the reminder.  My sister-in-law turned 62 and texted that she made her first "senior discount" purchase..  yep!  National Parks Lifetime Senior Pass.  Smart woman.   Now I better get mine and I am few years older than she is!    A great bargain at $10.

That is a considerable jump in price for that Senior Pass.  However, still a bargain.  I have used mine countless times.
