My prediction: Amazon will acquire Zillow and anyone else

Good afternoon all! I'm going out on a limb here. Most of you are probably aware of Amazon's announcement to enter the real estate marketplace. It will be interesting to see what form that takes.

I remember when BoA acquired Countrywide Home Loans. I predicted it and was actually interviewed by Inman. Back in the day!

Now I think the time is ripe for Amazon to acquire other real estate based entities. Both Zillow and Redfin have a model that Amazon might be interested in.

For some, Amazon is the 800 pound gorilla. They definitely understand the current customer and the need for quick delivery. How does that translate to real estate? I don't know but an agent who is savvy online will prosper in my opinion.

Not immediately Debbie although I read they're working real estate related stuff. I don't think Zillow and Redfin can survive without being acquired. They are hemoraghing money.

Georgie: Thanks for commenting. Although both Zillow and Redfin are public companies and have good models they are also hemmoraging money. Who knows if they survive without a merger. Amazon seems to be doing everything right these days. Have a great day!

All I can say, Paul McFadden ... is how did that Countrywide acquisition go for BofA??  Amazon beware??

Yes they are. For now. I just finished reading "The Third Wave by Steve Case, founder of AOL. He mentions some interesting stuff. The next wave will shepherd in new start ups as well. Stay tuned!

Thanks Endre. I don't believe the Redfin and Zillow models work unless they can start turning a profit. Automization is the new wave and Amazon seems to have it figured out right now. Interesting how they gambled or predicted the trend. The next generation loves their model. Have a great day!

It hasn't happened yet. These virtual real estate companies are hemorrhaging cash. I'm not sure some of them will make it through the downturn. Then the bottom feeders may emerge
