The fact that I love this industry still amazes me after all these years. I have not practiced real estate since about 2006 when I left to enter into a full-time training/recruiting/teaching position that turned out to be a prerequisite to an early retirement that took Bob and me across the country in an RV ministry while continuing to teach for NAR and CTAR.
It took a few years to remember I love this industry and to remember why I love it. Coming out of an early retirement and starting a new teaching career at 65 was not a difficult decision. We had enjoyed ourselves for several years, but something kept resonating in the back of my mind and I knew I needed to get back into the ballgame. I toyed with the idea of practicing again since I have broker licenses in both South Carolina and Florida. Coming into a new area didn’t bother me because I’ve always adapted to change. What stopped me, even though I love this industry, was the passion for teaching that stayed in my heart all those years. At this late stage of life, how could I not do what I love most about this industry?
For those of you who also love this industry, I give you a hearty pat on the back. The practice of real estate is not for everyone, and some of us fit nicely into different niches within the real estate industry. I applaud you home inspectors, surveyors, appraisers, insurance agents, mortgage brokers, stagers, movers, marketers, videographers, settlement coordinators, title closers and others. All of you are such an integral part of real estate, and I know you too love this industry!
The other evening TEAM Hughes Real Estate School helped sponsor an event for the local Association. Bob and I were there along with about 25 other sponsors, and it was exciting to be around the various REALTORS® who love this industry. We talked with former students who chose not to follow real estate careers, but who are still within the industry in different capacities. None of them regretted taking our real estate classes because they received direction.
The practice of real estate is not for everyone, and if you love this industry, you can find a niche where you can still be a part of it. REALTORS® are terrific people, and if I can still be around them, I am happy. TEAM Hughes Real Estate School is one of the first points of contact for many people who discover they love this industry, they have a passion for it, and they want to practice real estate. That’s priceless because a real estate career changes everything! I am reminded every time I see a former student how our school has helped change others’ lives, and that fills my heart with joy!
