Mostly Speechless Sunday : Sunflower

Yep, volunteers Will Allen, that is definitely what it is.  It has done pretty well for itself, and we've enjoyed watching it grow and bloom. -Kasey 

Teddy Bear sunflowers are amazing Ron and Alexandra Seigel.  We do enjoy the variety we have as well, simply because it was unexpected. -Kasey

Lottie Kendall it is right outside our bathroom window actually, so it's been a lot of fun to watch grow. -Kasey

Belinda Spillman we think the birds must have done it!  It is a strawberry patch, we know birds eat our strawberries, so....two plus two??? :-) Kasey

Debe Maxwell, CRS it is a section of our strawberry patch that we actually plan to rip out this fall and replace with something else, but I bet remnants of sunflower seeds still remain.  It will be fun to see if anything comes next year. -Kasey

Debbie Reynolds I will have to see if these are big enough to harvest the seeds. They are pretty small sunflower blooms and I don't actually know that much about it.  We planted some bigger one's in our garden last year but never used the seeds. -Kasey

Endre Barath, Jr. sunflower seeds are not part of our traditional garden so I don't know much about them.  I'll have to check them out.  These are pretty small flowers so not sure on the seeds. -Kasey

They are fun Joe Pryor.  I'm not really familiar with the difference in varieties, though these are pretty small flowers and I have seen some really big blooms and flowers before.  I'll have to do a little more research to see what variety these are.  Still fun, especially as a bonus plant and flower that we didn't expect. -Kasey

Patricia Feager this one was a volunteer plant, but next year I want to throw seed along our back fence to watch them grow.  They are fun! -Kasey

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® the most devastating thing happened...just a few days after I snapped and posted this photo we had a crazy storm with outrageous wind and it snapped this plant right in half.  It was so sad! -Kasey

Jim Cheney we are pretty sure birds are the reasons for these volunteers as well, as we have never planted anything in this bed besides strawberries.  The birds do love our strawberries too...-Kasey
