As we are headed into this final month of summer, my daughters and I needed to get out of the house and enjoy some people that were not us for a while. (I can literally hear "and mom and dad can hardly wait for school to start again" playing over and over in my head these last few days.) My friend invited us out for coffee and I jumped at the chance for adult conversation and a public setting with distractions for my kids.
We were stationed in Germany for 3.5 years and when we walked into Rise Bakery this morning I was transported back to the feeling of walking into a German bakery. There are cases of amazing pastries and also kolaches, paninis, burgers, and more. They were so friendly and took our order with ease and grace. We sat down and they brought everything to our table. I had the sausage kolache and it was GREAT. There was not a crumb left from the fudge cookie or the apple turnover that were eaten by the girls.
One of my daughters didn't order right when we came in and asked for food after about 10 minutes (I'm sure my kid is the only one in the world that does this). She only eats cheeseburgers and was pleasantly surprised that they had them on the menu. The kitchen was not quite ready to make lunch time food, but the cashier spoke with cook and took our order and about 15 minutes later brought out a delicious burger with a large side of cajun french fries.
We all left raving about how delicious everything was and my girls are already asking to go back. I count that as a win! Thank you Rise Bakery - I look forward to trying out a panini next time...or maybe the grilled cheese.
