Wordless Wednesday: Abstract Art

How Colors Speak to Me

Just recently, my 8-year-old grandson and I have been dabbling in abstract art.  Make no mistake, I'm not an artist and I'm not trying to be one, but I've always been fascinated by abstract art.  In many ways my mind works like abstract art.  I mean when you see all these colors meshed together in no certain way, it requires you to extract meaning and sometimes even "give" meaning to it.  Abstract art to me is like the complexities of life, we have to figure it out and make sense of it.

While my little entrepreneur grandson has been selling his art (how cool is that), one of the real benefits of creating art, at least for me, is that it totally relaxes me and I don't know about you, but I could certainly use more of that:  relaxation that is.

Good morning Charita. What a wonderful past time. I like art period and having something you share with your grandson is special.

It really has turned out to be a wonderful past time for me Sheila and I look forward to that quiet time and I really love sharing new experiences with my grandkids.  This has also proven to be a great vehicle for teaching my grandson about art, customer service, earning money, saving money and I even had him fill out a bank deposit slip for his earnings.

Hi Charita - That is some very talented work from an 8 year old. I share your appreciation for abstract art - it's interesting to focus on shapes and colors, but my real love is surrealism.

Hi Charita!  What a talent from both of you. I have never tried to paint anything and do admire those who do. I like abstract art too.

Luke I am one of those people that just likes to try new things.  If I think I want to do it, I'm going to give it a try.  I don't want to die without making an attempt at anything that I'm capable of trying.

Dick in this case I'm the 8 year old.  As I've already confessed I'm no artist by any stretch of the imagination, so even comparing my artistic ability (or inability - lol) to the good works of an 8 year old is a compliment indeed.  I'm flattered:-).

Kathy it's a technic called pour painting and it's really fun to do.  If you are looking for a new way to relax and bring a sense of calm....this is worth a try.

We Realtors need an outlet and art, yoga, meditation, knitting, gardening, hiking are all therapy for high stress days. That is cool that your grandson is selling his art.

Wow.  Thanks a million Gayle.  Your comments have been an inspiration to me as well and I'm fired up about art and photography as a result.  Thanks for the feature.  I love it.
