As most of you have already heard, we in the great USA will be treated to a solar eclipse on Monday, August 21. For those of us lucky enough to live along what's called the "path of totality" we will experience a TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE! The last total solar eclipse that was visible from anywhere on mainland USA was in March 1979. The next one will be in April, 2024. So this is a rare occurrence that will be worth the couple of hours you spend observing it, photographing it, tweeting about it, snap chatting about it. HOWEVER, it can be very dangerous to look at the sun during a solar eclipse - there are special glasses that were designed to protect your eyes at the same time as allowing you to enjoy and experience the effects of the eclipse.
We in Pawleys Island and most of Georgetown County, being in the path of totality, are looking forward to our glimpse...and we are equipped with our protective eyewear!
