If you haven't noticed - Gary 'Banana' Houghtaling is now playing in the Rain.
He is a great guy. How do I know? Because I have had the chance to meet Mr. Banana on a few different occasions. He is a pleasure to be around just like his fabulous wife Anna Banana Kruchten, CRS .
I urge you to follow Gary.
This post alone shows you that he is no joke.

From an engineers perspective - Facts
My main career has been engineering (aerospace industry) for 35 years. It has been very valuable to bring my perspective to our real estate business. Anna (my broker and business partner) is very organized and has had systems in place since I've known her. She asked me a long time ago to share my perspective on the real estate industry as an engineer. What do you see lacking? What do you see as sloppy practices? How can real estate agents improve?
What stuck out to me the most were that the agents sometimes totally missed the points (facts). They had a tendency to deal with situations from an emotional basis rather than looking at the facts, working together and finding a solution. And some of them were pretty all about 'me me me' which can NOT happen in the engineering world I know - ever. It is not about anyone of us. It is about all of us working together as a team to figure out whatever problem or situation we're dealing with moment to moment.
We had one agent in particular that we quickly had to let go. He was fine for a month or so and then it changed. He had a tendency to create drama and attempted to drag others into his BS which was not good for the office. Anna was always big on teaching the agents that if you have issues going on at home put it in brown bag outside the office door and see if you want to pick it up on your way out. And that worked well except for that one.
A real estate transaction is typically one of the largest financial decisions that most people will make. I believe that it is critical to deal with the facts, have operating systems in place for your business and use ones' business and logical mind. It doesn't matter how you 'feel' it matters how the clients 'feels' and you having all the facts and details in place to assist them in making a wise choice.
