- Your Lakes Region NH Weather Report, Aug. 17, 2017 -

77℉ Partly Cloudy  57

GREETINGS FROM THE BEAUTIFUL LAKES REGION OF NEW HAMPSHIRE - Here's your weather summary for Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017 -

Today's the last day before rain moves in to dampen the first half of the weekend, experts say, so carpe diem, m....r f....r. Put the top down, roll out the big bike and ride free and easy under mostly sunny skies.  The daytime temperature is supposed to peak at around 77°, continuing the trend of September-like weather that has characterized most of August in the Lakes Region.

Wind will be out of the southwest to 10 MPH, gusting to 17 MPH.

While you're out exploring all that the Lakes Region has to offer.  Take the time to discover (if you haven't already) one Winnipesaukee fry basket that has been turning out battered seafood fare for more than seven decades.  Pop's Clam Shell, on NH Rte. 11 in Alton Bay is a not-to-be-missed seafood shack serving up the best fried clams (whole belly and strips), calamari, shrimp, fish, fries and rings in the region since 1945. Period.

But don't take our word for it.  Ask Tonight Show host, Jimmy Fallon, if you're lucky enough to see him tooling around Wolfeboro and Alton this summer.  We have photo evidence of Fallon standing in line with the rest of us locals to get his mitts on a basket of Pop's mouthwatering delectibles.

Fallon Loves PopsPop's is open everyday except Tuesday until 8 p.m. through August.  Don't miss the chance this year to experience a New England food tradition that is akin to hillbilly pride in BBQ.  Check out Pop's Clam Shell here or call 603 875-6363.

Once you've eaten your fill, blow that pop standto  move on to your next Lakes Region adventure.

Meanwhile,  the mostly sunny skies today will become mostly cloudy after sunset in anticipation of the rainy weather forecast for the area tomorrow afternoon into Friday evening.  Wind will settle to a steady breeze of 5 MPH, shifting from the southwest to west northwest.   The temperature will drop to an overnight low of 57° with a high tomorrow of just 68°.

Weather experts say that cooler than normal tempertures will remain in the area for another week but should return to the 90° range during the final week of August.

Sunrise/Sunset (Laconia): 5:53 a.m. - 7:46 p.m.  Days are getting shorter and the shadows, longer.

Sounds like ideal weather in your  neck of the woods. Love Jimmy Fallon and it would be great fun to see him in person.
