River Vale Historical site New Jersey

Real Estate Agent with Remax Hometowne Realty

One of Bergen County's historical site and 22nd park, the Baylor Massacre Site, is located in River Vale, New Jersey.

The site was named after Colonel Baylor.  Back in 1778, during the American Revolution, Colonel Baylor and his men (known as the Continental Light Dragoons) stayed in the barns of several farms on what is now known as Rivervale Road, in River Vale, New Jersey.  An unfortunate attack occurred on the troops.  Many were injured and/or massacred. In 1967, on what is now known as the "Baylor Massacre Site", there was a discovery of the skeletons of some of the members of that regimen.  The park has a memorial plaque to commemorate the members who died that day to help our country.

More information on the park can be obtained from the following
