WHY LIVE IN SISTER BAY, WISCONSIN?

It's a simple question with  a long answer:  why live in Sister Bay, Wisconsin?

It began several years ago where these things tend  to begin, with the Village government.  Sister Bay had a long-term plan to buy as much waterfront as it could, opening up the Bay to the general public.

Sister Bay made improvements to its public marina, considered the finest in northern Door County.  Sister Bay doubled the size of its public beach.

But it wasn't all glory and glamour.  Sister Bay had to spend a LOT of time and money on its infrastructure.  Sister Bay revitalized and revamped its public sewer and water system (the only municipality to have both sewer and water north of the City of Sturgeon Bay), as well as revamping its curb, gutter and sidewalk areas.

While this was going on, people began to take notice.  New business like Roots Inn and Kitchen, the Wild Tomato (northern branch), the Sister Bay Inn, Boathouse by the Bay and the internationally renowned Funky Cookie Studio joined old favorites like Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant and Boutique (which created its new outdoor space, Stabbur), Husby's, the Sister Bay Bowl and others.

Sister Bay has a local grocery store (a Piggy Wiggly) as well as several specialty food stores.  It offers dozens of shops and specialty stores and restaurant's at The Country Walk Shops.  It also boast a Shopko Hometown (where you can find just about anything) with the only pharmacy north of Sturgeon Bay.  It also has attorneys, an Aurora/Baycare clinic, 2 dentists, a hardware store, a lumber yard and more.  In additional to being a huge summer and autumn destination, Sister Bay has also developed a wintertime destination:  a skating rink and sledding hill, in addition to a very popular dog park.  Sister Bay even boasts a golf course, Bay Ridge.

There are dozens of great reasons to visit Sister Bay, but what would make you choose to live here?  The natural beauty of the Village is STUNNING.  Plus, the sunsets are FREE.

The Village's population at the 2010 Census was counted at 886 year-round residents, but we have hundreds (thousands) of visitors here with second homes.  Sister Bay condominiums are a popular choice as a second home--no maintenance (but you do pay dues), while Sister Bay homes for sale generally have limited inventory (they get snapped up quickly!).  As a Sister Bay resident, I enjoy downtown concerns, the local dog park, great shopping, FANTASTIC restaurants and much more.  I have medical and dental care, legal advice, a fantastic volunteer fire department (combined with Liberty Grove) and so much more.

I consider myself lucky to live and work in Sister Bay, but there are dozens of other reasons to love Sister Bay, especially if you're a boater, golfer, shopper or nature enthusiast. Sister Bay is an incredibly popular place to visit in northern Door County---make your reservations before you come! Plus, Sister Bay listings tend to sell quickly (and prices seem to be rising)......so be sure to take the time to sign up for Sister Bay property updates.  Sister Bay is also part of the Gibraltar School District....one of the best in the nation...plus a very family-friendly place to live and visit.
