Building Relationships with Birthday Greetings
If you are among those who systematically mail out birthday cards with your personal messages to your circles of contacts, I encourage you to continue that practice.
For the rest of us who have imperfect records on birthdays and fail to send out those cards and notes, there is another approach that is easy to use and involves no cost other than a few minutes of time each day.
One of my initial activities each morning when I go to my computer is to send birthday greetings to my friends on Facebook. Go to Events, then go to Birthdays and then to Today's Birthdays for the daily list. Make this activity a daily habit.
One measure of your success with this Facebook activity is the number of birthday greetings that you receive on your birthday. For example, last year I received over 500 birthday messages on Facebook. This year, I received over 600 birthday messages. I make is a point to acknowledge each message that I receive.
Try these activities as an element of building your social network and meaningful relationships.
