According to Aldo Svaldi in his recent article in the Denver Post, the city ranks 15th for most millenial homeownership. Why do you think that is? My personal feeling is the fact that the rental rates in Denver are ever increasing and what you get for the money may not be all that great. Additionally Millenials are smart. Why not own a home, get the tax and appreciation benefits. I know several millenials that are buying their first place and asking a few friends to move in and pay rent. Essentially, the Millenial Homeowner is paying far less than rent and in some instances with the help of their friends in rent payments they are paying nothing out of pocket for the mortgage.
