We Michiganders appreciate every moment of sunshine and warm weather we can get. Here in GR we are fortunate to have 38 parks in our vicinity managed by the Kent County Parks Department that range from 2 to 1,500 acres.
One of our favorite parks is Millennium Park off of Maynard Avenue in Walker. It is also one of the nation’s largest urban parks touching areas of GR, Walker, Grandville, and Wyoming. It spands 1,400 acres with six miles on the Grand River. Within the park there is a six-acre beach, splashpad, boat rental facility, approximately 18 miles of trails, and endless opportunities for R&R.
It is the perfect park linking Johnson Park and John Ball Park. Avidly frequented by runners, cyclists, and everyone in between, it has a lot of character and is a lovely oasis minutes outside of the city.
Take a look at the park map to plan your next trail run or loop your evening ride into the park for a nice stop with sights over the beach that can't be beat. It's the perfect GR park for a family afternoon or solo adventure. Enjoy the sunshine!
