Can You Say Devastation?

By

Well it has been BAD!

All of the flooded homes in Houston, Santa Fe, Friendswood, League City, Sugar Land, Texas City and other communities will need to be reparied!

From experience I see contractors traveling in from all parts of the United States coming to repair roofs, HVAC units, sheet rock, floor and carpet. There will be an abundance of Insurance claims and there will come a point when the insurance companies will limit on how much each person will be able to get refunded. Remember the early bird gets the worm so get your clain in early.

Make sure your contractor is insured before you sign on the dotted line and make sure he has pulled a permit with your city. Be bold and call and ask the permit deparment. Don't give out a huge pay out to get the contractor started on the job. You may not see that contractor again. I previously seen a lot of people burned like this in other hurricane rodeos!

A big thank you to all the people who traveled here with their boats to pull people off of roof tops and flooded areas and to safety! WE are not a nation divided!

There will be an army of "Pete in a pickup".  They will come, take people's money and not do the work.  Beware!

Glad to hear you are OK...thanks for posting.  Our prayers are with you all in Houston.  Too sad for words.  May the country come together despite our differences and help Houston and surrounding communities get back on their feet as quickly as possible.

The price of building materials will go up and so will labor costs. Gas has jumped 20 cents a gallon since the weekend. Your advice to check out the contractor is sound advice.

Great advise. So many people get scammed in times like this. Be deligent before agreeing to pay money or let an unknown contractor inside your home.

Great advice on contractors. There will be plenty of dishonest people taking advantage of this horrific situation.

It is so sad to see how so many lives have been turned upside down.

What happens now? Your post gives us a summary of that.

There will be people coming to "repair" but are not qualified and some will have ulterior motives.

Your warning to make sure contractors are licensed and insured must be heeded.

I feel like the worst is yet to come for these pp--extremely difficult mentally to have your daily routine so upended, especially for the kids. No work, no home, living with thousands in a shelter.  How to be strong and have hope>?

Yes, lots of work will bring out a few contractors that are not legit.  Great advise to check out anyone before they begin working on your property.
