Leading us to a higher level

I had to take a few moments to think about what Jim Cheney wants us to write about in his August challenge.

So many areas the define me and what I do that I did not know which to choose at first.

I find myself over extended all the time with so many callings out there needing me to step up and take on the challenge.

My role as a father and husband has always been an important one, with high stakes involved if I fail in my role, and high rewards if I succeed in this role.

I am happy to say that the successes far outweigh the setbacks here

In my church I find myself called to take on so many projects and lead so many groups.  Another area where it is essential for us all to step up to the plate and do something important to help those around us.

Then there are my many businesses that take up quite a bit of time and energy, making the money that it takes to sustain the other activities while performing important services that again work to make a positive impact on the world around us.

But Jim asks us to offer ONE thing, not three or more, so perhaps I should share a common denominator in all of these roles.

Though my wife often says that I can’t do everything and that I need to turn down a few of the opportunities that cross my path, it is not that easy.

I see a need that is not being met, or an opportunity that is being wasted and I do feel a strong need to step up and see that the job gets done.

Which brings me to that common denominator… Leadership.

I don’t try to do any of these important roles on my own, I know that more can get done for a longer period if I can share the importance of the many missions that I partake in and coach others in taking on these missions.

So perhaps my main role is more about leading others to greatness.  Teaching them, coaching them and hopefully inspiring them to take on the important missions in life, and to always seek to make a difference.

Bob Crane you are an over-achiever and a perfectionist, and from your great Blog, you are a "Jack of Many Trades".  You are involved in business and family and church.  Take some time for 'you', so that you don't burn out . . .  appreciate ALL that you do . . .

Bob, that's so impressive that you take your role of father, husband, mentor and leader seriously in everything you do. Not everyone wants that 'weight' on their shoulders and most prefer to do the bare minimum.

Have a fantastic weekend!
