Real Estate Agents who have been using Search Engine Optimization (SEO) for a while know should know that there are always new innovations on SEO procedures. This is why it helps to always update our SEO strategies especially on local business to make sure that our businesses will always be on top of internet searches. Here are 5 SEO 101 Tips For Real Estate Agents:
- Claim and enhance your Google My Business listing. We mentioned this on a previous post (3 Lead Generation Tactics Every Agent Needs To Get On!)here but it's worth repeating! Why? Because when you search for a certain company or a type of business, you would notice that there are several listings on top of the search page. These are businesses claimed by their owners through Google My Business which is why they are listed on the directory. You can do this for your business by going to www.Google.com/Business and verifying that you are the legitimate owner.
Once you have claimed, make sure to enhance your listing by entering details such as business hours, location, description, etc. Ensure that all the information wanted by your clients or customers are reflected, while you’re at it, upoad a photo of your logo or of your facility. Once you have this set, you can also ask your top clients to visit your Google My Business listing and review your business. (You should do this on Bing Places and Apple Maps at the very least too).
- When you blog, make a static webpage, be sure make sure that you have your Title and catchy meta description tag. Think about the ads at the top of google, these ads have a catchy title and description. You can use this Alpharetta home search as a template.
When creating your website, it is important that you have your business title (or page name) and description that perfectly encapsulates what your business is about because these will be the first things your potential clients would see in the search results and it will help with your Local SEO efforts as well.
For your title tags, you are allowed approximately 60 characters so try to fit your business name, the city where your business is located, and the services you offer. As for the meta description tag, you are allowed to have only 160-200 characters so use this wisely. Try to make sure that your description does not get cut off on the search results.
- Claim your business EVERYWHERE. Make sure that your business is listed on all business directories such as Angie’s List, Yelp, LinkedIn, Whitepages, etc. I have a complete list of directories for local seo on my website if you want it.
A big "secret" tactic of mine is to check your Chamber of Commerce if your business is allowed to be listed. Get your business out there! It's often worth the price to join the Chamber if they give you a proper listing.
- Get Reviews and Track. Most potential clients who look online would check the reviews and ratings of a business before hiring their services or purchasing their products. This serves a double purpose as customers are able to see the legitimacy as well as the quality of your business. This is why it is important to have your customers review your businesses online. They can do it through websites where your business is listed or through marketing tools. It's good to spread out these reviews too, so try to get 5 on Google and 5 on yelp, etc.
You can also have your clients review your Facebook Business page especially since Social Media marketing is a huge component of businesses these days. Some clients prefer to talk about your business in other platforms such as blogs. You can keep track of what clients say about you by using tools like Hootsuite that alerts you whenever your business is being talked about.
In addition, as you get reviews start to track the position of your Google My Business listing as it climbs up the ladder for your city name plus real estate agent.
- Get Nerdy with Advanced Processes. Once you have the reviews you can add them to your website. It's pretty easy to do if you have a wordpress site and a bit more difficult if you don't. It's called "SCHEMA" and basically it tells Google what certain pieces of information are on your website. So you couldn't do it on Active Rain, but you could on your own website. It's the only way to get "stars" on your listing.
