A new cabin listing and a bobcat in Red Feather Lakes, CO

By

So, there I was in my own little world, taking outside photos of my new listing, when the neighbor said hello. We had briefly met before, but didn’t recognize each other, so reintroduced ourselves.

She sells real estate too, and of course, we starting talking.  She invited me over to see her cabin (which, by the way, is adorable).  When I was leaving, she walked outside with me and said “quick get a picture”- and there, about 30 (?) feet away was a bobcat.

I had seconds- no time to focus, or zoom in, I raised the camera that was hanging around my neck and clicked the button before the cat disappeared on the other side of the shed.  I have never seen a bobcat before, and I wouldn’t have seen this one if it wasn’t for Noreen pointing him out!

Thank you Noreen – and I hope we find a good neighbor for you and the bobcat soon!

~

My newest listing is a little cabin, built in 1929, nestled in between a huge rock out-cropping and a lovely aspen grove, with a small seasonal stream running through.

It has no running water, an Incinolet toilet and an outdoor privy.  Concrete pads and posts support the structure which was originally built upon a stone foundation, it has original wood floors and pine walls, a large wood burning fireplace, and 2 bedrooms.  It’s just a stone’s throw from Shagwa Lake.  The lake was drained this year but I understand it will be filled again for next season.

It’s a perfect hunting or fishing cabin,

sitting in the quiet reading a book or writing a book cabin,

relaxing and hanging out cabin,

or

watching the wildlife go by cabin ,

in beautiful Red Feather Lakes, CO!

Wow a house with a bobcat close by, I better not tell my wife or she will want to buy it.  She loves wildlife.

Mary-I have never seen a bobcat in the wild. Cool. Now that toilet is interesting. I would like that I think instead emptying a black tank. I would like a place like that, The running water would be different. Hope you had a great Labor Day

What a lucky opportunity that was, Mary, to take a picture of a bobcat in the wild. You have so many encounters with critters in Red Feather Lakes. That cabin looks very affordable, too. I had to google incinolet toilets because I had no idea what they do. You could do a whole blog on them!

Hi Sharon,  many cabins have them up here, because they are only used for "weekenders" or short stays- I think they would be nice compared to emptying the black water....but I really don't know how much power they require, or if you could even put one in an RV?  Thank you Sharon Lee !

Hi Joan, it was so fun to see the bobcat- it wasn't interested in hanging around for a photo shoot though! The cabin is cute, cute cute! Thanks Joan Cox !
