Unique mailbox on Soldier Trail in Tucson, ArizonaChris Griffith, an Active Rain giant and successful REALTOR in Bonita Springs, Florida, is a gem!  Newbies would do well to subscribe to her blog, both for content and ideas.

Chris's post The Mailbox Series - First Time Poster's Welcome caught my eye tonight.

Real estate bloggers here in the Rain often complain of writer's block.  There's no such thing, IMHO, and Chris proves it with The Mailbox Series.

Carry your camera at all times, and you'll never run out of things to do, or places to visit.

Here's my first Mailbox Series submission.  (I'll be on the lookout for more.)

This unique mailbox can be found on Soldier Trail in Tucson, Arizona.  You wouldn't want to drift off the road and smack it with your car!

Doña Chris,

I dub thee Don Chris, (which we're allowed to do here in the Southwest, Don being a term of honor.)  Actually, considering you're a member of the fairer sex, that would be Doña Chris.  LOL

Mike - I like it!  Guess they don't have to deal with a homeowner's association on this one....  Most neighborhoods here are pretty strict about everyone having the same mailbox.

Mike,

My brother replaced two mailboxes in a row several years ago when pranksters drove down the street late at night busting all the mailboxes down his street with a baseball bat.

He then fabricated and installed a steel channel mailbox that had a 1/4" thick steel wall!  Can you imagine the shock the prankster got when they tried to smash that one!!!???!!!

Take care,

Lucky :)

or if you smacked it with a baseball bat! I wonder if that was the logic?

I'm looking forward to more in the "Mailbox Series."
Growing up in rural New Mexico, I had the fun of seeing my father grow tired of replacing our mailbox on a regular basis due to baseball bats, shotgun blasts, cars veering onto the shoulder of the road, etc.  His solution was to take a 12" steel pipe and sink it 6' deep in concrete.  On top of that he welded together a hexagon made of 1/4" steel to house the mailbox.  Funny how long that mailbox has lasted--over 30 years so far!

April,

It's there; you just have to look.  Looking for a photo becomes a habit.

Terry,

See you on your blog!

Anne,

The mailbox has no anchor; the rocks hold it in place.

Kent,

Shotgun?!  I'd like to see a photo of that mailbox; your comment is better than my post!

Bill,

Yes, it is.

Charles,

Thanks for joining in the conversation; it's always good to see a friend.

Lucky,

Can you get a photo?  I'd like to see that.

Penny,

Nope.  No HOA on this street.

Writer's block is a hazard, as is Blogger's Butt, but there's never a shortage of creativity out there.  Thanks Mike.

That is a very cool and unique mail box.  There isn't much creativity with mail boxes here.  Most newer areas have the boxes in all together at the end of the street.
