More Important than the Economy...

Congress has always been inept...there is no question about it!

The price of gas is heading to $4 a gallon. We have a war in a foreign country. A shaky housing market. A high rate of unemployment...and this just in:

Sen. Arlen Specter on Wednesday called for an independent investigation of the New England Patriots taping of opposing coaches' signals.

A couple months ago...it was did Roger Clemens stick a needle in his butt!

Is this ridiculous or what? The ecomony is in the toilet and this total moron is looking to waste more time on whether or not The New England Patriots were taping signals in a football game?

When is this all going to stop? The next time you are at the gas pump and it reads $100 and you have to decide on getting to work or buying dinner that night...do you really care if a football team was taping signals or some million dollar ball player is juiced up?

That valuable time should be used in finding solutions to real problems that affect everyone not on lunacy because some jerk is angry his Philadelphia Eagles couldn't win a superbowl against the team in question.

Congress needs to be sent a wakeup call....watching the Clemens debacle was embarrassing enough...THIS NEEDS TO STOP!

now now blrguy..

the guy's just trying to live up to his name...

a "spector"  isn't that the  short noun for  spectacle

he's seems to always be  trying to stay in the news somehow..

(besides wasn't something just in the news that concluded the taping was just the walk-on or something....???)...

BLREast..you are right about the keeping his face in the news because can you remember any recent piece of legislation he has been a part of?

Yes,The NFL said enough is enough and wants to move on...but since Congress has all this free time...they are going to keep it going!

Yes- he should focus on issues that affect the people. It doesn't matter what he does- the Pats are cheaters and will find new ways to cheat. This was already proven- they were caught taping the Jets. He really needs to re direct his focus. Gas just went up again last night.

Rob..they all find a way to cheat....the Pats just got caught...there are people who take short cuts and look for an edge everyday.

Gas isn't a high priority for them..as it really doesn't affect them

 term limits may not work..

but why do the voters not clean house?

Like the Florida bunch.. after the "drop like a rock" tax that gave more to those who paid the least.. and nothing really to those with multi-thousand dollar bills..   ? but will a new set of politicians have a shot.. it's very doubtful...

WHY JUST LOOK at election '08!    the only ones making it to run.. is 3 SENATORS!

Out of 300 million American's  this is the best and only  candidates for THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES... leader of the free world?

Did you see on the news.. the U.S. isn't going to compete anymore in student scientific contests... we're not competitive enough anymore?   WHAT the ....?    It's one thing to get beat.. but a nation without anyone willing to take to the field? ..

Maybe we're paying way too much (or other benefits/perks) to lower politicians  that better Presidential Possibilities don't fight harder to be heard and seen....   (And speaking of Senator's why do so many seem to get by with doing so little for so long.. and no body challenges even their  jerrymandered  districts!)....

out of what many think is one of the worse session of congress in memory.. just what have they done for you lately?

So... Change is really going to be expected.. by whom?     folks seem to have a hard time remembering Congress makes the laws and spends the money... and can over ride the president's veto's (and ignore his suggestions).

.. Place the blame on the lame who's mis managing the game.. what a shame!

but what about the public who helped put a Senator in the white house?   Let's see  that does kinda double up the pensions perhaps.. not that it matters.. after Bill's $100 million take.. the barn door's been throw wide open for taking money both foreign and domestic..

And to think, years ago people had respect for the president and the president respected the office too much  even after leaving to politic or really even work " so as not to have any appearance of a conflict of interest"- save perhaps to freely speak &  educate the young ....

Shame the public doesn't ump these guys with the same passion as their sport's addictions..

maybe if more people keep score (and reminded others) about all the strike outs, fouls, missed balls, bunts, and just wasted fly balls adn errors  these Congressman continue to make will losing many, if not most games both home in the country and those away...     Perhaps there'l be a little less re-electing incumbents for just more of the same!....

Is there something even   more Important than the Economy?    How about a little integrity..

.... and the emphasis of those issues that need Capital Hill's attention and action would be self-evident..

maybe they need to reread those founding documents again (or perhaps a first for some)..

it's a little hard to see which clause authorized the NFL, NBA congressional probes..

...  maybe Brittany and Paris have been discriminated against..

...  more "much to do about nothing"

maybe it doesn't really matter to them.. who..what..

just so long as it takes up much time and fills the session..

and that it pretty much busts any chance of getting caught actually having to make a vote on something of significance..

Sport's Scandal.. or  other special interest for only brownie points.. which ever..likely  doesn't matter...  either will do...

... as  for Congress it  seems:

                      a fillibuster is a fillibuster

It is an impact, I am hearing people want to live closer to town. People taking the train vs car and more people not going away on vacation...

The media craze has made people in the public eye CRAZY...  They only take action based on the impact to their public image and whether it will sway votes or not.  Sad to say, but I believe the desire by "We the people..." to be entertained has made our society this way!  We no longer seek to do the important or best things for society and our fellow man, but instead seek ratings... (shaking my head)...  (stepping down from the soapbox)...

BLR - Thank you for saying what the whole country should be saying.  Everytime I see congress and sports in the same sentence, it makes me sick.  Quite frankly, I could give a crap who is taping who, and for that matter, who is juicing.  The only involvement that government should have with sports is inviting the champions of each sport to the White House.

likely the vacation will be taken this year..  people have a way of gulping down at 'last call'

and afraid it's their last dance...

The ice melts in the fall when things start to freeze over.. and the cards are all maxed but  the bills come in just as the heating bills go up.. and Christmas rolls around once again..

And don't forget the reset's on a couple of million home mortgages..

but    politicians     seems to be just sweating it out by doing nothing of any substance.. to make it past the next election..

any hope they're ready to give you a new straw to stir the drink.. likely  is on the slow boat GOING TO CHINA  along with all the deficit money  draining the economy..

from all the import  consumer spending raising the demand overseas for materials, metals, & Oil and GAS... and their prices worldwide....

Let's see...  ignore the economy..   ? can they afford to go to the Sport's Games.. (even on cable somebody's  got to buy the products advertised to pay for the game)....

maybe ole Spect... is working on punishing those teams after all..

just ignore the economy and dry up jobs and inflate the  cleaning out of  the Fan Bases wallets!

                                        *********************************

Looks like.....  just another case of  Killing the  Golden Goose

by Congressional inaction laying another rotten Egg..

Gas and its price is not new!!!! Congress has had this issue for over 30 years and nothing has been done, for some reason it will fade to the background.  Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, to expect congress to work on pressing matters, what a novel idea!  I think that Spector and his cohorts are trying to change the focus from the real problem and that is how they stay in office.
