The 2017/18 school year began Tuesday, September 5 for the Hood River County School District.
Hood River Valley High School (HRVHS) registration was September 5th. Wednesday, September 6, 2017 is the first day for freshmen and new students, who should arrive by 8 a.m. to meet their leader for the day. All other HRVHS students begin classes Thursday, September 7. School starts at 8:20 and ends at 3:10, daily.
Several changes are in store for HRVHS students:
1. New cell phone policy requires all students, upon entering class, to place their phones in a hanging organizer by the door. There will be no cell phone use during class. Phones can be reclaimed upon leaving class for use between classes and during lunch.
2. All students will be issued a lanyard, along with their new student I.D., and are required to carry that I.D. at all times while at school to assure school security. All guests must enter the school through the front door and check in at the office.
3. The high school will roll out the new Positive Behavior Support program: "Eagle Pride", through which students can earn recognition for success in Perseverance, Respect, Integrity, Diversity, and Engagement.
4. A new dress code is currently before the school board, its standards to be made public soon.
Here's wishing Hood River County families a happy and successful school year!
