Good morning, Sharon -- when it comes to flora, fauna and feathered friends, I'm not only wordless but often clueless. Nice photo and thank you for the introduction to the Kookaburra.

Hi Sharon - I have heard of these birds and they're gorgeous!

Very interesting bird. The Kookaburra from Australia is one of those kingfisher types, eating mice, fish, lizards, snakes, but that name comes from its laughing effect that they use a lot as the background in the jungle movies.

Those birds remind me of that old song of my childhood. The Kookaburra Song:

Myrl Jeffcoat -Thank you for sharing that song. Ir was a fun song and video.
Have you heard the song? I'm singing it now - "Kookabura sits by the old gum tree, merry merry King of the bush is he, laugh Kookabura, laugh Kookabura." Have never seen one though - so it's come full circle.

If that is not the same bird in the pictures then they must be twins.

Joe Pryor -It is the same bird just somewhat different color feathers. The top one was the bird in the cage and the second one was the sign. Maybe male and female
Sharon, never heard or seen this bird before.
