First Friday's, Crossroads, KCMO 417 E 18th St, KCMO 5:00pm

The Crossroads area opens up its galleries and stores to stroll through with music, arts and street shopping.  This First Friday's event will include free drinks, music, yard games, SKC player appearances, giveaways, a VIP experience, and the world's largest Flip Cup Competition!

WeekEnder: Crown Plaza Movie under the Stars, 2430 Grand Blvd. 6pm

Enjoy the sounds of local bands , sample your favorite food trucks , shop the wares of local KC artisans , and see the Back to the Future Movie under the stars. Festivities begin at 6 p.m., with the movie starting at approximately 9 p.m.

Park PlaceWine & Dine Week  Park Place, Leawood all weekend

Restaurants all featuring specially priced lunch ($15) and dinner ($30) multi-course meals. Runs all weekend through Sunday.

City Market comes alive with book sales on the first Saturday of every month through October. Fiction, children's books, Young Adult/Teen, media, and a variety of non-fiction.

Pricing: $2 for recent new release hardbacks; $1 other hardbacks; $1 all media - CD, Audio Books, DVD, Blue Ray; 50 cents paperbacks. Some special items separately priced. Cash or check only.

Strawberry Swing Indie Craft Fair, Nelson Atkins Art Museum 4525 Oak St, KCMO 10am - 5pm

This indie craft event has become nationally known as a “place to be” for all lovers of handmade and recycled/upcycled items with 100+ handmade and vintage vendors along with kids crafts, photo booth and more.

Youth Sports Festival  Zona Rosa, Kansas City, Noon-4pm

The Platte County Sports Commission Youth Sports Festival, Noon – 4:00pm
in and around the Town Square at the Zona Rosa Shopping Center, 8640 N Dixson
Ave., Kansas City, MO 64153. PFour interactive sports zones will allow kids age 5 – 12 years to try their hand at a variety of sports as Platte County youth sport organizations showcase their programs and teach basic skills in a variety of sports Photo and autograph opportunities with sports characters: KC Wolf, Blue of Sporting KC, Sizzle from the KC T-Bones, and the Royal’s Slugger.

Elephant baths at the KC Zoo,  Kansas City, Aug 5 & 6, 1pm.

The zoo elephants will be cooling down with an special elephant bath courtesy of the Kansas City Fire Department at 1 p.m both Saturday and Sunday.
