Having a Peachy Time in Colorado

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Aspen Lane Real Estate Colorful Colorado CRE# 40005863

Last week, my husband and I went to the Western Slope of Colorado for the day and came home with 75 pounds of freshly picked peaches.

As you can imagine, I have been very busy in the kitchen making wonderful things with all the peaches.

Since my friend, Michael Jacobs said he wanted to see pictures of peaches, I thought I would oblige with this post.

Every year I "put up" enough peach jam to keep us in stock for the year and make lots of extra for family and friends.  So far, I think I have made about 48 jars of peach jam and have given away about a dozen.

I also can sliced peaches for those cold winter days when we just

need a fresh sweet treat.  They make a great side dish with pork.

I am now down to my last box of peaches and its not quite full.  I have made 5 peach pies, of which I froze two and gave the rest away.

Today may be a peach break day to give my feet and arms a rest, but I will be back at it tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure apple season will soon be upon us.... hmmmm.

Belinda Spillman - I'm really impressed with your ability to can peaches into jam and sliced peaches for those winter days ahead! I never learned how to do that but when I was very young, I remember my Grandma and Grandpa doing it in their kitchen.

Your peaches look delicious! They already peaked in my area and the recent ones don't taste that good. I'll have to ask for peaches from CO. I am now officially craving fresh peaches once more!

Once you have all the right equipment - it is a breeze Patricia Feager .  The "Boys" know they can't cross the imaginary line in the kitchen when I am canning.  They keep their distance but keep a close eye on me as I am busy working away.

Homemade treats are always the best.  It's special to know someone took the time to do something the old fashioned way.

That is a labor of love and so glad my husband is not in your area, Belinda or he might be on your doorstep. Peach anything is his absolute favorite.

That's a lot of peaches. A lot of work but appreciated by the people you give them to and by you throughout the year.

I have a friend who gifts me with peaches each year.  I love them fresh, and try to eat my way through as many of them as possible; however, I also like canning them like you.

LOL @ Michael Jacobs comment!

I love peach jam and SO wish I lived near you, Belinda - I'd pay you for a couple of jars though! YUM!

Everything else sounds divine too and 75# is a crazy amount of peaches to think about peeling. Great job, Belinda - totally impressive!
