My power when out about 10 PM on Sunday night and I just got it back about an hour ago. Internet works now too. Yay!!
Praise be to God, we are all safe. The house is undamaged but as you can see, my yard looks like a bomb went off. Lots of downed tree limbs. Although the eye of the storm was suppose to pass directly over us, as hurricanes often do, it turned at the last minute and moved east of us, going up the middle of the state. Even with that, we had 75 - 100 mile an hour winds. By the time it got to us, it was a category 2 hurricane.
I could hear limbs falling on the roof and every now and them small limbs would hit my bedroom window. I could also hear when a large limb would come crashing down and hit the ground with a loud thump.
One of the biggest limbs just missed my bay window, as you can see in this picture. With the power out, we knew limbs were down but couldn't see much from our windows and it was too dangerous to go outside at the time. It wasn't until the morning that we could actually see the destruction to our trees. Even then we still had to stay inside as the winds were still fierce. It was around noon when we finally got to go outside.
I've been working on clean up but many of the limbs are just too big to move. Will be cutting them down this weekend and putting the piles by the road. The county will be coming by starting Monday to pick up all the debris.
Grateful my family is safe. Grateful my house has no damage. Grateful to have power and Internet back. Please consider donating to the hurricane relief efforts as there are many that were not as fortunate as us and will need much to recover.
