The Garden District Boundaries are approximately from Marye St., Bolton Ave., and Hynson Dr. Though most of the community refer to anything below Texas Avenue as the Garden District. The Alexandria Post-War Suburbs Historic District boundaries are from Bayou Hynson, Darby St., Texas Ave., and Elliott St.
The Garden District has something to offer everyone it's close to downtown shopping and restaurant's. The Alexandria Audubon Zoo, walking trails, theaters, and more! There is also The Garden District Foundation that's mission is to connect, celebrate, and care for the Historic Heart of Alexandria.
The Garden District Foundation is always discovering new ways to promote neighborhood pride and unity in the subdivision. A few of the many things the Foundation does is have block parties, a Second line for Mardi Gras, the Good Book bookmobile, and the list goes on and on. The Garden District Foundation closes the year with their Holiday Tour of Homes which is shuttled by the Downtown Trolley.
