Pondering About Trying It On For Sighs

I Admit It.   It Fits.

I admit it.

I know this about myself.

I have a tendency to sigh.   Unlike the handsome guy in the featured photo above...I know my look is not attractive.

I also roll my eyes.

Yeah, you know the look.   Yes, that one.

And I have also been known to provide a snarky retort   Or two.

But I have learned over my years on this planet and my fondness for not getting beat up --- to understand that I need to keep these bad habits in check. Well...more or less.

And because it’s Sunday.   I begin to ponder.   Because I can.

As I am prone to do...I also digress...and I look to the thoughts of others on the subject of the “sighs” of the world.  Here’s what I found from another diverse group:

Words may be false and full of art;

Sighs are the natural language of the heart.

Thomas Shadwell

Life is like a story, when all the resolution is resolved,

you heave a sigh of relief.

Michael Bassey Johnson

Give it a try.. for you are born to fly high;

don’t sit on the shores, don’t wait and sigh.

Vikrmn

Now check out this one for a bit of a kick-in-the-pants perspective:

When I hear somebody sigh, 'Life is hard,' I am always tempted to ask, 'Compared to what?'

Sydney J. Harris

And just because happiness is a warm puppy:

Yesterday I was a dog. Today I'm a dog.

Tomorrow I'll probably still be a dog.

Sigh!

There's so little hope for advancement.

Charles M. Schulz

While I know and try to minimize them, I thank you for indulging my sighs on this Sunday and whenever the pondering takes over...Have a good day however and wherever you may digress.

Nothing wrong with a big ole sigh. Or an occasional eye roll. You're right though, we have to keep them in check. Thanks for sharing your ponders with us.

I sigh so much that my eyes are rolled back in my head and all anybody sees when they look at me is the white of my eyes.

You had me at the photo of the dog...I think he is a very handsome fellow, sighing or otherwise.  I sigh a lot...it gives me the pause I need not to blurt out what I am thinking.

Michael-You can sigh and ponder all you want. They make great posts. Had to smile at the beating up thought and sometimes you have bite your tongue so you don't get a fat lip.

Happy Sunday Michael- well yes, I too am an eye-roller and am not known for having a poker face. OOPS I gave it away. No more poker for me. I think there was a good "sigh" scene in When Harry Mets Sally...no not that one. I said "sigh"

I've never heard this: Sighs are the natural language of the heart.

but, I do love it!

Hi Michael - I personally tend more toward moans and shrieks of anger. And Schultz got it totally wrong - there's no need for advancement when you're already a dog.

My father was a big sigher.  I can see that I take after him in that respect.  The eye rolling I try to keep to a minimum.

Good morning Michael, I can relate on sighs and eye rolls ... and keeping them in check. Sometimes it feels good to sigh though. All in moderation I suppose. I always enjoy reading about your pondering.

Hi Michael, I sigh and do the eye rolling. When I was younger, right before my dad would begin one of his lectures, he would tell me not to roll my eyes, I haven't changed.

I think more people should take a moment to filter before they blurt things out ... sigh.   We all need to keep our behavior in check whenever possible.  Sometimes though, it just pops out.  sigh!

I sigh...a lot. I do the eye roll....a lot.

I'm working on being more appreciative and more understanding but it seems lately that more and more people suck. There I've said it.

Loved this. Loved the quotes.

"Compared to what? " applies in so many situations. I may have to start applying that to my thought process in times of stress.
