The New York Minnewaska Mountains Called and I Answered

By

Over the weekend I had back to back feng shui consultations within Ulster County and Westchester County, New York. After my consultation in Marlboro, NY I headed over to Minnewaska State park Sam's Point to get in a full days worth of hiking. In total, it added up to 5 hours. That’s a lot of exploring!

I started off exploring the Ice Caves which were pretty cool! Literally. Maneuvering though them allowed you to have a sense of great curiously, while your mind tended to drift into a touch of horror movie thinking, LOL!

I hope your not afraid of tight spaces.

After, I made my way over to the Verkeederkills falls trail. This offers a pretty sweet vista of the Gunks near New Paltz, NY. Be sure to plan ahead as this trail is 3 hours round tip.

To complete my mini exploration, I stopped off at Sam’s Point Vista and then made my way to Lake Maratanza to cool off and give my feet well deserved rest before heading back to the ranger station.

If you have the Empire State Pass, there is no charge to get into the park. If you are paying as you going, the fee is $10.00. Be sure to check the Minnewaska website as the entry fees are known to shift from time to time.

Happy Trails!

WOW Laura, those are some amazing photos. In my younger days I may have been up for the challenge but after knee and foot surgery, I have to take the easy trails.

What a perfect time of year for a day-long jaunt through the wild. I hope you took along some nice treats to eat?

oo for sure Sandy and Norm. I boiled up some sweet potatos, corn, had an avacado, nuts and berries, and beef jerkey. The perfect energy food for a long day :)

Not being a hiker myself, Laura, I'm impressed! NY's mountain regions are gorgeous... I remember them well from spending childhood summers there.
