What would Happen to Your Property Value if Your local Country Club and Golf Course was to Close?
Destrehan, LA.

If you're in the market for country club living and looking for Homes for Sale, ask if the seller belongs to their local country club. Property owners seem to always want to mention the view of the course when selling their home. My take on this matter is if you want to continue improving property value and increase your sale ability of the property considered joining your local club. Secondly, my thought is what would happen to your property value if apartments were located behind you instead of your club's golf course that you do not belong to. There are examples which are well documented where the country's club land is in great demand. Ormond Country Club in Destrehan, LA. sit on 120 acres. If the club was to sell the land to a developer, the developer could build homes or mix use apartments on this land. In other words the developer would be free to develop and use the land as they saw fit. How to keep this from happening in your neighborhood, join your local club. Membership will drive away any thoughts of selling the club.

I am only using Ormond Country Club as an example and I am a member. I always recommend supporting your local clubs. To answer the question, my research shows that the value of your property would DROP about 30%. Go out and join your local club. Many clubs offer swimming pooling only memberships to full blown access to the entire club. What use could you have for a club, how about using the Dining Room for a Wedding Reception or Business meeting. I meet many of my client s for lunch at Ormond Country Club. Also, the impact to our children to learn the game of golf or make friends with other kids at the club is very important and priceless.
