The Early 2000's: When All Realtors Took Their Own Listing Photos

By
Real Estate Agent with Carolina One Real Estate

I'd like to preface this Active Rain Photography submission by saying that I now only use a professional photographer for my listings. I've talked in multiple blog posts here about why I think a professional photographer is absolutely worth the cost. However, I felt like it would be cheating if I submitted a photo that I didn't take myself. So, I had to look quite a few years back to find this one. It's one of the last listings that I did the photography for myself.

The picture doesn't do the dock justice because it was an incredible, expansive view, and the home had its own boat lift and the works. Back then, no one paid for professional photography, and after seeing so many years' worth of high resolution, PhotoShop-enhanced listing photos, it's funny to look back now and see the difference.

With the new trend towards aerial photography and video footage instead of still photos, I'm sure we'll be seeing even more changes in this contest year over year!

Hi, Lee -- in a relatively short time, the world of real estate photography has changed dramatically.   Nice entry.

That is a great shot.  Nothing like a water view to lower your blood pressure!

Nice entry.

You don't need a perfect picture to convey the beauty of this property

It's still a great picture Lee Keadle .  So much has changed since that time and camera's and phones take so much better pictures now.  I think you did a great job on this one for the time frame it was taken in.  Sounds like everyone here loves it!

Lee Keadle - in this internet age where 90% of buyers start their search online, there is no excuse for a listing agent to not hire a professional photographer to best reflect their seller's property. Money very well spent!

Like the image!  It actually looks like it could be a movie set.  Romance, action, mystery ... could work for any move.  Great submission.

Lee, I would love to see the panoramic view from this dock, but what you've captured here is tantalizing.

This was a great entry.  I love Charleston, SC! :)   Funny I think I was the first agent to use professional pictures for all my listings -  not almost everyone does.  Definitely the way to go - our homes are "valued" on the Internet by the pictures!

It's never easy to get a good scenery shot to portray the reality, but then again it's nice when the buyers see the scene and exclaim how much better it looks in real life.
