In 2002, the village annexed a portion of land in the town of Ixonia in Jefferson County. The village has a total area of 0.98 square miles, which is all land.

The village is served by the Oconomowoc Area School District which includes eight prestigious public schools serving students kindergarten through grade 12.
There are also many private schools near the area, including Lake Country Lutheran High School, St. Paul’s Lutheran School, St. Jerome, and St. Matthew’s Lutheran.
