This weekend Austin is going to be hopping! The Longhorns are playing at home and its the first weekend for ACL! If I were you I'd make reservations after the 6 pm UT game starts and traffic won't be so bad. If you're in the mood for an old world style Italian restaurant that provides a truly one-of-a-kind memorable dining experience then I have the spot for you!
GINO’S VINO OSTERIA https://www.ginosvino.com/
Gino’s Vino Osteria is attached to the Marriott Residence Inn on E. 51st in downtown Austin. Their focus is on customer satisfaction using original recipes are made from scratch. The atmosphere is warm and inviting from the minute you walk inside the restaurant. There’s a vast wine selection, award-winning cocktails and even live entertainment.
According to owner, Gino Catanucci, “People are always surprised to find an old-fashioned Rat-Pack style restaurant tucked into the corner of a modern 350 room hotel…” The servers will prepare tableside Caesar salads and desserts like their Flaming Chocolate Ravioli. And, Gino himself loves being behind the bar creating one of his award winning cocktails, or you might also find him playing a mean harmonica with the live musicians that perform at Gino’s.
A sampling of what you’ll find on the menu: On the Apertivo menu there’s Pancetta Avvolta DiGamberetti - jumbo shrimp wrapped with pancetta and fried, served with a sautéed spinach and pesto sauce or Torta di Granchio Italiano – crab cake of sun dried tomatoes, risotto and ricotta cheese over arugula with a garlic aioli. On the Frutti Di Mare menu there’s Scaloppine di Mare – pan seared sea scallops served with creamy mushroom risotto topped with sautéed spinach or try the Salmon e Mozzarella – sautéed salmon filet topped with melted house mozzarella, pesto sauce and sliced tomatoes over bucatini pasta with their cardinal sauce. On the Entrée menu try the Bistecca Pizzaiola – a 12oz. rib eye braised with pomodoro sauce and topped with house mozzarella served with bucatini pasta or the Pollo Farcito – French cut chicken breast stuffed with mozzarella Spanish chorizo and spinach over capellini arrabiatta. And, I’m thinking that Flaming Chocolate Ravioli will be the perfect ending to a perfect Italian meal.
