A HAPPY HALLOWEEN BEGINS AT THE
FLOWER MOUND PUMPKIN PATCH
I had fun at the Pumpkin Patch taking photos and meandering through the field of dreamy pumpkins. Families can hop on board the wagon for a nice hayride through the patch too! For kids with lots of energy, they can bounce around in the bounce houses too.
Now is a great time to think about holiday treats. Whether you make apple pie, pumpkin pie, or something sweet like Baked Alaska, have fun in the kitchen and involve family members to share in the celebrations. It's a great time to check your kitchen cabinets to take inventory of kitchen tools and utensils. When primitive man needed a tool he had to improvise from whatever materials were at hand. Vessels for holding grain and water have been found in Egyptian tombs. They were made by shaping clay by hand and allowing it to dry in the sun. Speaking of shaping clay, wouldn't it be fun to rent the movie Ghost with Patrick Swazie and Demi Moore? I don't know about you, but I sure miss Patrick. This is a good reminder to never take family and friends for granted.
Ghost Busters is another fun show for family entertainment. You can bake pumpkin seeds or make popcorn and make finger foods too! As we advance in age, let's not forget to maintain youthful thoughts and enjoy the laughter of children. Even grumpy old men need to laugh! Just for fun, stir up some good trivia or ask questions (no iPads or electronic devices allowed). For example, how could the phrase, "necessity is the mother of invention" be applied today? Name kitchen appliances and tools you could (or couldn't) live without? Most important of all, is the Great Pumpkin coming to your house?
