Arizona Aspens Changing Color

Snowbowl Arizona

Aspens Fall in Sedona Lifestyle  Aspens

The area that these pictures were taken is the road that leads to the Snowbowl lifts.  The Snowbowl parking lot is about 9000 feet.  Most of the pictures you will see were taken between 8000 and 9000 feet during the first week of October. There were Aspens in different stages of color change all up and down the road. If there was a severe cold snap, most of the trees might be in the same stage of color.  This is not the case this season.  So depending on the actual temperature change which could vary in each area, trees are green, bright yellow, and orange.  Some of the tips of the trees are more of a reddish orange. The weather was bright and sunny with  temps around 58º to 60º. Please enjoy the pictures!

As always, if you need any questions answered or know of anyone who is interested in selling their Sedona home or buying a home in the Sedona area, please let me know!

My Personal Opinion & Preference

This is the time of year I like to visit Snowbowl. Why? Because of the various stages of color. In some areas, you can see all the stages. If you wait and go a little later in the season, you may only see yellow leaves and bare trees.

It is about an hour and 25 minutes from Sedona. From Phoenix at the I-17 and Loop 101 it takes about two hours and 15 minutes. Add additional time to get there from your location. Also - This does not factor in for traffic. Personally, I do not go on the weekend!

Those are gorgeous pictures, Sheri.  Last Friday when I was traveling along California's Highway 88, there were stands of Aspens.  They were just beginning to turn color.  I can imagine in a week they will be spectacular.

Hi Sheri -- each photo is beautifully captured.  I don't know why but I particularly like the "roadside" shots.   Maybe it's like being enveloped in Aspens.

Helly Sheri, We where up just outside Steamboat Springs this weekend for the last pictures of the aspens.  We came back a day early (last night), they were calling for a foot of snow overnight, so cut it short.

I was wondering what the heck is a Snowbowl and why is it on the map? Then you answered my question with the photos of the ski lifts. It's a ski resort, right? Beautiful capture of fall in action with those aspens.

I love aspens - they are some of my favorite trees. I was in Montana recently, and some yellowing leaves were lifted off an Aspen by a wind. They looked magical, way up in the air swirling around in a million different directions. Like star dust or something. Gorgeous.

I love aspens too - the shared root system always strikes me as wonderful when you look at a stand of aspens and know that they are all connected.
