The Feeling that Comes After a Contract is Accepted
It doesn't happen every time after a contract is accepted but does happen every so often. The buyers seems so excited about the home they chose and were elated when the offer was accepted.
Now a few days have passed and attitudes have changed. The buyers ask how they can get out of the contract, that they acted too hastily. The buyers may say the home is not exactly what they were looking and they would be better off waiting for the right one to come along.
What the buyers are experiencing is Buyer's Remorse. It doesn't have anything to do with compromise or the home not being the right one. It has to do with the buyer being scared and not sure about what is to come and whether they made a good decision. It is secong guessing themselves.
A good agent will prepare the buyers that this may happen and reassure them on the front end that the buyers looked carefully and made a sound choice. The feeling is just a sign of new territory being tread and has been experienced by other buyers before them.
Deep breathing and using forward thinking to imagine living in the home and making happy memories there will help. Share your feelings with your agent and ask for reassurance. You will not be shamed or rebuked. Chances are you will again hear all the reasons you chose this home and how happy you were just days earlier. The voice of reason will begin to return.
This too shall pass! What is Buyers Remorse? It is doubting yourself or state of uncertainty about the future.
