Still here in my home with news about a couple of recent events. Power outage yesterday evening for 3 hours though not from the fire. Gave me pause on what to do but glad I stayed. Then this morning at the last 9 am press briefing, excellent news about the fires. The County and cities here feel confident the firefighters are finally getting the upper hand and there will no new evacuations. They announced they are changing direction from fighting this to one of recover.
The Nuns fire continues to be the beast that threatens me the most, now with 25% containment. By comparison, the Tubbs is at 60% and the Atlas 56%. They are still fighting the Nuns new fire outbreaks above Mondavi and its path north on the ridge between Sonoma and Napa. It is very steep terrain and hard to access. My best guess is it will be this way till we get the promised rain on Thursday and Friday.
Today the air is decent with winds blowing off shore and thankfully only light breezes. This will change come Tuesday when we are supposed to get a sea breeze. Good for firefighting but it will bring the smoke back into the valley. I do have the recommend N95 smoke masks and the Town is giving them out for free. However I am staying mostly indoors and am going a bit batty. Thankful for Steve and Denyse, my neighbors 3 doors down, who also stayed. Though there are many second home owners here, I feel the Town has only 1/3 of the locals here compared to what would be normal anyday.
