Canada celebrates Thanksgiving the 2nd Monday of each October. This year was particularly special for us and we had such a lot to give thanks for!
Emo's Eating Emporium was once again the gathering place and, even though we had 4 who couldn't make it, we had a very enjoyable meal and as per our norm, we were able to present a celebratory atmosphere:
Even the napkins were folded in "Turkey" style, lol
We served two different turkey dishes: Red Wine Braised Turkey legs (drumstick & thighs) plus a
Bacon Weave Turkey Porchetta (dry brined and wrapped around Fennel & fresh Sage).
They both cooked to an incredible and flavourful moistness and were well received!
My favourite dish of the night was the Southwestern Roasted Rainbow Carrots with Cilantro - YUM YUM
There were also Squashed Red Potatoes with Garlic butter, Broccoli Salad, Barley Salad with Bacon, Maple Pecans & Apricot Vinaigrette and fresh hot rolls. I wished I'd baked inside them, what my guests were thankful for - next year for sure!!
For dessert we enjoyed individual Lemon Cheesecake Pies with fresh blueberries - light & refreshing after a heavy meal!
