Top 3 Reasons To Purchase A Home This Fall

As the long summer days come to an end and days start to grow shorter, there are some substantial home-shopping benefits. And even though fall typically signals the start of things slowing down in the real estate market, it doesn’t mean the fall season is not a good time to buy a home. In fact, fall is a great time to buy a house, let me explain.

Fewer Buyers~

Yes, come fall, families that wanted to buy a new home before the start of the new school year are no longer in the market. And guess what? Less competition translates into better home-buying opportunities for those looking to buy a home.

Bottom line, come fall, there are fewer buyers in the market. And when there is less competition to slice through, home-shoppers have a better opening to make an offer and have it accepted.

Motivated Sellers~

The start of fall has a funny way of motivating sellers to sell. And when sellers are motivated to sell, buyers win and have a much better chance of getting the home of their choice.

As we enter the holidays and the end of the year, those looking to sell their homes are very motivated to sell for a couple of different reasons. Not only are sellers concerned about interrupting their holiday parties and events but as December 31st looms, sellers also want to take advantage of tax benefits.

Fewer Things To Hide~

First and foremost – when trees start shedding their leaves, flowers begin to die, and landscapes are no longer beautiful, buyers have a real sense of the property. More importantly, homebuyers hate surprises. And that’s why home inspections are so crucial to the home buying process.

The fall and winter seasons are usually most brutal on homes, and that’s the best time for a potential homebuyer to see a home is at its worst. The rain and snow associated with fall and winter lend buyers and inspectors a chance to see the home when exposed to the elements.

So there you have it. There are my top 3 reasons to purchase a home this fall. Those looking to buy a house this fall, congratulations! But no matter when you plan on buying a home, buying a home is a huge deal, and you can’t afford to make any mistakes.
