It hurts to even type that story line...but it's true...

Gordon Biersch Midtown Closing in November

This has been my go-to place to hang out, have a beer and catch up on emails, write blog posts and meet clients. Heck, my very first client event ever (that was pretty successful) was here!

When I was on the Board of Directors for the Midtown Neighbors' Association, I hosted a luncheon here for all the Midtown Atlanta Condominium Property Managers.

I've celebrated a birthday or two, and an anniversary in this restaurant.

Gosh, I just watched the Pride Parade at a table on the sidewalk on Sunday, October 15th!

I'm not sure what the reasoning is for the closing. I think (personally) when World of Beer opened across the street in Viewpoint Midtown, they took a hit. That place is always jammin' and GB will often be empty, or very few people there. I do know the entire staff has turned over....the last bartender, Steve, who I had known there for years, had recently left and was the last original employee to leave. Now, all new staff, bartenders, etc. I believe the new manager I recently met, was already replaced.

I just came from a week of sales training in Orlando with my business coach, Tom Ferry. During his presentation as well as our lead coach's program, we talked about staying on top of technology to help our Buyer and Seller clients. I picked up some great tips.

Owning a restaurant certainly compares....if you don't keep your service level and food quality up, you are going to pay for it. If you were "the only kid on the block," and they literally were until about 2 years ago when World of Beer opened, and you didn't make some changes to your operation, you are bound to take a hit.

I hate to see businesses close. No matter what the reason.

I'm really going to miss Gordon Biersch. It really WAS my place.

Now, where will we call home?

I hate seeing a favorite restaurant close its doors.  Just last night my husband and I were wondering what happened to a favorite haunt.

Hi Thom, Where one door closes another one must open - somewhere.  You'll never replace Gordon Biersch Midtown - but eventually you will find a new "favorite".
