What happens if you find a fraudulent charge on your credit card from Microsoft? One thing I can tell you is that all Microsoft will do is raise your blood pressure.
First let me make it clear that I LOVE Microsoft products, this is just a case of unbelievably STUPID policy.
Here is the scenario: I get my credit card bill with a new charge from Microsoft. A charge I know does not belong there. I call Microsoft. They confirm an account has been opened and charged to my credit card. They know who made the charge but they will not tell me without verifying the account. They verify the account by emailing the person who set up the account and text the phone number of the person who set up the account. OK, so for me to cancel the account I have to answer the email sent to someone I don't know or answer the text that went to the same person I don't know who set up the fraudulent account!
WHAT!
That's the policy and they are sticking to it! In what world does that make sense??? Sounds to me like Microsoft is encouraging fraud... sounds like they took a lesson from Wells Fargo... let's just open up a bunch of fraudulent accounts... but unlike WF they charge you for the fraudulent account. I called my credit card and they happily canceled the charge and blocked Microsoft from doing it again.
