Walter Marvin was born in San Bernardino, California back in 1889. In the 1920’s he was somewhat a successful farmer just making it by. However, this changed and thus he goes down in the history books, so let’s get to it.
His fortune changed when he nursed some abandoned berry plants back to health. Those were a cross between a blackberry and loganberry. He opened a roadside stand in 1890. His wife served fried chicken dinners and within a few years they opened a restaurant.
With the success of the restaurant Walter began to build an Old West town around it. The business was a success and thus would place him in the history books.
What you may now about Walter Marvin Knott is that he was the creator of Knott’s Berry Farm and amusement park in California. His Knott’s Berry Farm jelly is still in production to this day under the supervision of ConAgra Foods who purchased the Knott’s label in 2008. Who knows what the next visionary will come up with. I know I don’t. Until tomorrow keep a smile on your face and a penny in your pocket.
