How does your builder insulate (wrap) your home?

By
Industry Observer

There are various methods that home builders use throughout the country to insulate (wrap) a home; there is the Tyvek, Thermo-ply, foam board and the zip system. The first two are very thin and offer little to no protection against the elements. The foam board is better but holes are easily poked through it and the tape used on it does not really stick all that well since it is manually applied it is not always applied correctly. The Zip system is a structural wood panel with a water resistive barrier and air barrier built right into it, when used in conjunction with the flashing tape you have a zipper effect that insulates your home like a zipper.

Sitterle Homes uses the Zip System. What do you want protecting you from the element? If you are interested in purchasing a Sitterle Home in Aliana please call me 281-804-9265.

That's good information about insulation or wrapping, Yolanda.  The quality and method used can make all the difference.

Yolanda, I've never heard of the zip system. It's definitely something to consider when building a new home!

Thanks for sharing this info on insulation/wrapping. I've never heard of the zip system but makes perfect sense to use when building.

I like when builders go above and beyond what the standard code is for insulation!

Yolanda, not exactly sure what product our builders use for our new homes.  I have one in the process now, should go and check it out.
