Losing Touch Can Be Frightening

Happy Halloween, Real Estate Pros!  

And while the kiddos are all getting spooked by ghosts and monsters tonight, we all know that the SCARIEST thing in the world of real estate is losing clients.

This year, I decided to reach out to people in my database that I've lost touch with for one reason or another.  I took advantage of the holiday in order to make it a cute message - using little Halloween play on words.

The message read:

It's scary how fast time goes by!  Doesn't it feel like just yesterday when we last talked? Well you've been on my mind, and I just wanted to say BOO, er, HI!  Give me a call when you get this card and let's catch up.  It would be frightening to let anymore time go by :)

I sorted through my database and ending up sending it out to 40 people.  I received 5 back by return mail - so now I know I need to reach out to these people in another way and get an updated address!  I didn't hear from some of the people I sent the card to.  BUT - my phone did ring off the hook the first few days after the card hit people's mailbox.  

And the card didn't just go to clients.  I sent it to a few family members as well.  So the best part was the call from my sister.  We don't talk or text very often, but when we see each other (about once a year) we pick up right where we left off.  Which is great, but honestly, why don't either of us pick up the phone?

Most of the people I sent the card to were either past clients or friends.  I received calls from several, and even generated business from one of the calls!

Which all speaks to the value of staying in touch with our sphere of influence.  We all KNOW we need to do it, but we all get so busy that it often slips through the cracks. 

Are you staying top of mind with your database?  If not, I encourage you to use the upcoming holiday season as a way to get reconnected.  Send a card or a gift in the mail.  Host a party. Or just go old school and pick up the phone to say hi.  You'll be glad you did!

I've just start Using Send out Cards and it has been a blast. Finding events in peoples lives talking pictures from Facebook and putting them. on a very personal card has been a great way to touch people.
