Pondering About Changing Times

Pondering About Changing Times.  I ponder.

Because it’s Sunday.

And because I can.

I looked to find what thoughts others may have on the subject of our changing times.   Not time change as you might expect today.  An interesting and a diverse group bring forth even more pondering for me when it comes to time and change.  Again...not changing times or time change but the correlation between the two.   Well kinda. More or less. Because it's Sunday. And because I can. I ponder. And I digress.

Education is the most powerful weapon

which you can use to change the world.

Nelson Mandela

Nothing is so painful to the human mind as

a great and sudden change.”

Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley

Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world.

Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.”

Jalaluddin Rumi

Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes.

Don't resist them; that only creates sorrow.

Let reality be reality.

Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”

Lao Tzu

They always say time changes things,

but you actually have to change them yourself.”

Andy Warhol

Sometimes the change in the position of the words we communicate makes a difference.  Or how we say it.  I find that interesting.

Life involves change and time....the relationship of those two words.  Two concepts.  Sometimes related.  Others not so much.

Have a nice Sunday.   And the week ahead too.

Hi Michael

That's a pretty thought-provoking post! I like Lao Tzu's quote the best, I think, although if I do some more pondering I might change my mind!

Hi Michael Jacobs - I am noticing Dorie Dillard post as I get ready to write mine and on a Tuesday,  Rumi's quote also reasonates with me. Ever since I moved to Sedona many years ago, I realized I am the only one I can have total influence on!

The older I get, the less I like change. And yet I could really use a change right now. LOL

You are just clever beyond words. Or because of your words, I'll have to ponder that one a bit. Mac is having a horrible time with the changing clock - he is begging for his dinner now, a full hour early - and wakes me up at 5AM, instead of 6AM. :)

Oh how I ponder why it has to get so dark on the East Coast when we have to move the clocks back. It's not my favorite time of the year...

Well, you have reminded me that I need to haul a ladder into the kitchen and take my life into my hands by crawling up on the cabinets to change the time on our stinkin' kitchen clock. It's the only clock in the house my husband did not change. It's his subtle way of saying, no, you do it.

I appreciate the play on words, and also the quotes by Rumi and Warhol. If we want something to change, we have to change ourselves, or change "things" ourselves.

Michael, sure easier in the Fall to change the clocks than in the Spring.  Losing an hour is tougher!

Where would we be each day without change? We would be a stagnant society Michael Jacobs.  I do hate changing that clock back and forth though...

Michael Jacobs - I went back in time to read this post again. I love the quotes and the thougths behind each one. I love when time changes when you're in the mountain, breathing fresh air or traveling somewhere new. It would be wonderful, if postive change was just a matter of programming something within our mind, and we were capable of doing it ourselves. After an historical day and being up late last night, I am in hopes perceptions change for the better. Here's another quote that I find so meaningful:

"If one tries to think about history, it seems to me - it's like looking at a range of mountains. And the first time you see them, they look one way. But then time changes, the pattern of light shifts. Maybe you've moved slightly, your perspective has changed. The mountains are the same, but they look very different." --- Robert Harris

May you be strong, breathe well, and always have something to smile about.

Good Morning Michael Jacobs - Change is a philosophy that works for some and not for others. I don't mind change, as long as I have some control and/or choices. We are living in a world today with so many changes. I ponder...  how much change is too much or not enough?

When I've had enough, I dovetail into the gifts of nature. Mother nature's interpretation of outdoor entertainment and art is designed for education. We can sure learn a lot from her, can't we!

I hope you are getting all your needs met successfully. If you put a smile on your face today, just know I'm smiling back at you and wishing you well.

Michael, time is important in our industry, and changing the clocks is a chore I wish we could eliminate.
